Giant Statues or Objective Markers 2

Previous post here.

If you are interested in making your own giant statues or objective markers, here's a tip!

I was at Dollar Tree today and they have a bunch of angel statues for the holidays.  Here's a pic --

If you are so inclined, you could get the statues for $1 and the wooden bases at Hobby Lobby for $0.79.  That's super cheap.

A little paint, some styrofoam rubble and a little drybrushing and you could have some cool Imperial objective markers or statues.
Not bad, eh?

More Giant Statues or Objective Markers

Here are the other three markers I've completed.  I like the way they've turned out.  I might fiddle a bit by adding rubble to a couple of the bases.  I have one more angel to do, then I'll be done.
When I see this one, I think of an "ancient depiction" of the Emperor.

A saint or angel gazing into a golden "power crystal."  Probably an atomic reactor in Warhammer 40k.

I love the scale of this angel.  She's "battle damaged" and the folds of her robe make a little "bunker" where troops can take cover or snipe at the enemy.  Hiding in the base is Sgt. Telion.

Giant Statues or Objective Markers

It isn't often that my RPG games and my 40k games overlap, but this is one of those times.

Pictured below is a Christmas tree ornament of an angel that has been repurposed onto a wooden base.  The rocks are built up using crushed styrofoam.  I painted the foam with acrylic and then spraypainted the whole thing.  Finished up by drybrushing the statue with white and drybrushing the rocks in 3 colors.

I think it turned out fairly well.

I can imagine using it in some ruined courtyard or dungeon chamber.  I plan to use it as a Space Marine objective marker in my 40k games.

[40k] Halo Terrain on the Cheap

Stopped by the Big Lots yesterday and I discovered a toy on clearance for $12.

"Halo Micro Ops High Ground Tower"

Here's a link where you can buy them online from Target for $12.48.

I took some pictures of the Master Chief that comes with it, a Space Marine and a Terminator for comparison.  It's a little bit small, but it is nicely painted and it does look pretty cool.

I'm thinking of putting a plastic Space Marine on that hover bike (with a little conversion)

Master Chief is a little bitty guy...

[40k] The Latest Battle

Had a big 4000 pts vs. 4000 pts game on Saturday.  My Banecorp Space Marines and their Imperial Guard allies took on the Blue Devils Space Marines and the Tau Xal'itarr Sept.

It was a close battle through turn 4, but then the tide turned toward the Banecorp and the IG.

Here are some pics.  Enjoy!

The Thunderfire cannon proved to be a formidable opponent.

Notice the Manufactorum spewing toxic gas into the atmosphere.
